Betfair sports betting
The Betfair online website is a great offering from one of the most well known bookmakers around. Betfair have been in business since they were established back in 2000, and the site has been constantly upgraded to bring it up to date.
The online site has been a favourite of online punters ever since it was launched. The main attraction on the website is sports betting, with thousands of markets being found on their sportsbook.
There are also sections for a Betting Exchange, Casino, Games, Poker, Vegas, Bingo, Arcade, Live Casino, Macau and more. Whatever you are looking for as a punter, Betfair are likely to have it.
Betfair new customer offers and promotion codes
When I registered for an account with Betfair sportsbook as a new customer, there was a great welcome offer to claim. By depositing funds and placing five bets of £10 or more, I was credited with a £20 free bet. I could then repeat this offer, five times to give me a total of £100 in free bets.
Before completing this offer, I made sure to check out all the terms and conditions listed on the Betfair website. A promo code needed to be entered before I did anything else. They stated that my qualifying deposit and bet had to be £10 and placed on a single selection. There are minimum odds of 1/2 (1.5) placed on the first bets too, so I found a selection as close to this amount as I possibly could to give myself a better chance of winning.
This first bet can be placed on any sports market on the sportsbook, so there are no limits. This gave me a lot more to choose from when looking for my first five bets.
When qualifying for the Betfair new customer offers, the free bets are awarded within 24 hours. They will then need to be used within 30 days of being awarded. If not, they expire and the chance to use them is lost completely. High profile football matches, especially those live on TV, often offer good value when qualifying and using free bets.
Betfair sports betting website
Placing bets with Betfair is easy to do and navigating the website is a pretty positive experience. The website has all of the Betfair branding, with a sleek gold and black colour scheme. It’s easy to find what you are looking for too, as there are tabs covering the top of the page.
The sportsbook is a key part of the site and provides betting opportunities on over 30 sports. The full range of sports includes; American football, Athletics, Aussie Rules, Baseball, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Chess, Cricket, Cycling, Darts, ESports, Football, Futsal, Gaelic Games, Golf, Greyhounds, Handball, Horse Racing, Ice Hockey, MMA, Motor Sports, Netball, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Snooker, Table Tennis, Tennis, Volleyball, Winter Sports.
There were plenty of markets available for each sport, so I had plenty of options on what to place my bets on. The football betting on the site is comprehensive, and there are thousands of markets available from leagues and competitions all around the globe. Some of the most popular markets include; Match Odds, Both Teams To Score, Win and Both Teams To Score and Over/Under 2.5 Goals.
Horse racing coverage is extensive too, listing markets for all UK and Irish meetings which includes races on the flat, national hunt and all weather tracks. Markets for horse racing include Win or EW, Place, Betting Without, Match Bets Forecast & Tricast, Distance, Insurebet and Faller Insurance. There are also markets for international race meetings from abroad, from places such as Chile, France, Sweden, South Africa, USA and more. Ante Post racing odds are available too, so you can get your early bets on for the big upcoming races.
Cash out is an important feature on the Betfair sports betting site too, and it allowed me to lock-in a profit early when my bet was in a winning position. This will be really useful in the future, particularly for accumulator bets.
Betfair sports betting odds
The Betfair odds are fairly average overall but there are plenty of value selections to be found if you’re looking in the right place. It is often the case that they offer the best odds for some leading horses in certain races. Good value football selections can usually be found on big matches that are televised, as the bookie bring their odds in line with the market leader.
Finding these good value selections is important when completing the new customer offer, as you will increase your overall profit. There are often some other Betfair offers to take advantage of too.
Betfair offers In-play betting
The in-play betting on the Betfair website has its own tab at the top of the page. When clicked on, there are a range of sports listed that have in-play markets available. These include; football, tennis, basketball, golf, cricket, beach volleyball, handball, ice hockey, snooker and volleyball.
When I was on the site, the number of in-play events varied depending on the sport. There were 20 ongoing football events on a Friday afternoon, 18 ongoing tennis events but only 1 event each for the likes of golf, snooker and beach volleyball.
Football usually has the most markets listed for each event too. In-play Premier League football matches often have the most in-play markets, with the exact amount varying. Lower interest matches such as games from the Thai Division 1 have less markets but still a good amount.
The number of tennis markets listed depends on the event. Lower interest events such as the ITF Croatia had a few markets markets listed, but there will be far more for the bigger tournaments, such as the Grand Slams. When I was placing in-play bets, the odds were changing at a rapid rate, which is something to be aware of.
Betfair offers live streaming sports
Live streaming is an excellent addition to the Betfair site, and I found that it was a really useful feature. A number of top sports are available for live streaming at no additional cost with Betfair, such as football, tennis, snooker, rugby, darts, basketball, ice hockey, handball and volleyball. All of these sports can be watched without having to place a bet, all that was needed was for my account to be funded.
When on the site, I was able to watch football matches from some of Europe’s top leagues such as La Liga, Ligue 1 and Serie A. I found that the streams could be watched both on a desktop and on a mobile device, meaning I was able to follow the action both at home and on the go.
Horse racing from the UK, Ireland, Australia and more, plus BAGS and RPGTV greyhound racing are both available on a bet and watch service. By placing a bet of at least £0.50 on a race, I was able to watch it on either a desktop, such as a PC or a mobile device, such as an iPhone.
The live streaming feature is really useful for placing in play bets too, as when I was able to see the action, I had a better idea of what would be a wise selection to bet on.
I could easily see which events were available to watch on live streaming, as there is a full schedule of events that will be streamed over the next 30 days. Live streams start two minutes before the event is due to start.
How to deposit for Betfair new customer offers
Before taking advantage of the Betfair new customer offer, I first had to deposit funds. I will talk through the deposit methods I was presented with, and bare in mind that these may only be relevant for those also in the UK.
The easiest way to deposit funds is via a credit or debit card. There are no fees involved with depositing money through this method and when I added funds to my Betfair account they were processed immediately. This meant that I was able to bet with the funds straight away.
There was a minimum deposit amount of £5 for any card payments, which is better than the £10 minimum for some other bookmakers.
Alternative payment methods include Neteller, Skrill, Paysafecard, Bank Transfer and PayPal. They are all processed immediately, other than Bank Transfer which takes 2-5 working days to be processed. There are varying minimum deposit amounts, such as £12 with Neteller, £10 with Skrill, £5 for paysafecard, £10 for Bank Transfer and £5 for PayPal.
When qualifying for the Betfair new customer offer, I decided to go with the debit card option. It was simply the quickest and easiest way, plus other payment methods often disqualify you from claiming offers.
Withdrawing funds could be done by the same method as I deposited with, and my card details were saved making everything quick and easy. All I had to do was enter the amount I wanted to withdraw and click the Withdraw button.
Is Betfair legit? What to do if you need help
People tend to ask the question ‘is Betfair legit?’ and the simple answer is yes. It is just like any other bookmaker and they have to answer to the gambling commission and must follow their terms. There are plenty of customer service options on the site too if you need help with anything.
These can be found by clicking the Help button, which takes you to the help centre. This has answers to some frequently asked questions as well as links to message Betfair on Facebook or Twitter. The Contact us page provides links for the live chat and telephone help features.
