Bundesliga preview – Borussia Dortmund vs Bayern Munich prediction.

Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel rested key members of the squad for Wednesday’s 2-0 victory at Darmstadt. Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Lukasz Piszczek, Nuri Sahin and Marcel Schmelzer all started on the bench and are expected to lineup for the big game against Bayern on Saturday. Goalkeeper Roman Burki was left at home nursing a cold while it was decided not to risk Marco Reus who had a muscle strain. Defensive lynchpin Sokratis Papastathopoulos is Tuchel’s biggest doubt having missed the last three games with groin strain.

Bayern Munich captain Philipp Lahm was in the stands for the 2-1 home defeat to Mainz on Wednesday and will return against title rivals Dortmund. 19-year-old Kingsley Coman has been increasing his stock on the right wing but can expect a place on the bench to accommodate the return of Thomas Muller who was used as a substitute in midweek. Central defenders Jerome Boateng and Holger Badstuber remain sidelined leaving defensive midfielder Joshua Kimmich and versatile full back David Alba expected to cover in preference to Mehdi Benatia and Serdar Tasci.

Prediction

Dortmund have improved since losing the reverse fixture 5-1 and opened up the title race with a run of six wins and a draw since returning from the winter break. They have also defeated Porto home and away in the Europa League to remain unbeaten so far this year. Dortmund have only dropped two points at home this season when held 2-2 by Darmstadt in September. Tuchel’s men put the record straight with a comfortable 2-0 win in Darmstadt on Wednesday and had previously struck three times in the last 10 minutes to defeat Hoffenheim 3-1 at Westfalenstadion.

Bayern had hoped this game could effectively seal the title but dropping three points at home in midweek leaves Dortmund just five points behind and the match now has a different context. Bayern must also prepare for the visit of Juventus in the Champions League with the sides all square after the first leg. Guardiola’s side has won four and drawn one of its last five away games in the Bundesliga.

Dortmund are in great form at the moment and being offered at a very attractive price for the home win.
