Leicester City play host to Atletico Madrid in a live UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final 2nd Leg match this Tuesday night. Read the match predictions to find out why a draw is the betting tip at the King Power Stadium. Leicester have a 0-1 deficit to overturn after losing the first leg in Madrid and come into the game on the back of a 2-2 draw away to Crystal Palace. Meanwhile Atletico had little trouble beating relegation threatened Osasuna 3-0 at home over the weekend and will be happy to protect their lead here.

Leicester City vs Atletico Madrid Preview

Leicester City are short at the back with Wes Morgan injured and Robert Huth suspended. Marcin Wasilewski is set to partner up alongside Yohan Benalouane to form an unfamiliar centre-back pairing for the hosts. Nampalys Mendy and Molla Wague are out injured while Wilfried Ndidi is a doubt for this game.

Atletico Madrid have a few injury concerns of their own, most notably Kevin Gameiro. The Frenchman’s absence will mean that Fernando Torres starts alongside Antoine Griezmann in attack. Full-back Sime Vrsaljko is also a big miss for the visitors while both Augusto Fernandez and Miguel Moya are also in the treatment room.

Team Predictions Leicester City vs Atletico Madrid

Atletico 4-4-2 formation: Oblak; Luis, Savic, Godin, Juanfran; Koke, Gabi, Niguez, Caeeasco; Torres, Griezmann

  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Leicester have scored an average of 2.0 goals and conceded an average of 1.3 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Atletico have scored an average of 1.6 goals and conceded an average of 0.3 goals per game

  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Atletico’s previous 10 matches

Leicester City vs Atletico Madrid Prediction

Leicester will feel aggrieved to be behind in this tie as replays clearly showed Marc Albrighton’s foul on Antoine Griezmann was outside the box. But the incorrectly awarded penalty was dispatched and the Foxes must emulate their effort against Sevilla in the previous round to stand any chance of progressing.

Atletico Madrid were in control in the first leg but may see less of the ball here as the home side look to seize the initiative. Diego Simeone is renowned for making his team tough to break down and a quick glance at the average goals conceded stats above suggest Leicester will have to pull out all of the stops to find a breakthrough.

Had the home side been at full strength, then I think they could have perhaps made it through. However, their makeshift defence is a weakness that Atletico will surely expose at some point during 90 minutes. I can see Leicester getting on the scoresheet but the visitors have gone far in this competition in recent years and I expect them to maintain that record here.
