Leeds produced a workmanlike display to repel Wolves and take 3 points back up North following a 0-1 success at Molineux on Saturday. Meanwhile, Norwich’s promotion charge faltered once more as they were defeated 0-1 at home to a resurgent Preston side.
The hosts have benefitted from the creativity of Hadi Sacko on the right-flank in recent weeks and he’ll be looking to lay on another assist, having provided in each of Leeds’ previous two fixtures. He found Kemar Roofe last time out and helped striker Chris Wood to move on to 6 goals for the season in their penultimate match.
Norwich have relied on the goal threat of Cameron Jerome but he was unable to add to his haul of 6 goals against Preston. Steven Naismith starred in the previous round against his old club Everton and could come into contention after being an unused substitute at the weekend. Both Robbie Brady and Jacob Murphy were withdrawn for tactical reasons but are expected to return to the starting XI here.

Leeds have posted patchy form of late with a 1-0 loss away to Derby followed by a 1-1 draw at home to Wigan prior to their latest success away at Wolves. What is clear though, is that Garry Monk’s men are a tough outfit in front of their own fans, evidenced by just one defeat in seven at Elland Road and that came against high-flying Huddersfield.
The visitors’ form is also up and down with a comfortable 3-1 home victory over basement boys Rotherham followed by a 2-2 draw away at Fulham, where the Canaries let a 2 goal lead slip for the second time in four matches. They threw everything at Preston last time out but couldn’t find a breakthrough and will be looking to use this cup game to get back on track.
We have quite a contrast in styles here with Leeds favouring a conservative approach and Norwich often looking to get on the front foot. The visitors have come flying out of the blocks in recent matches but that has often been their undoing as they run out of energy late on. I think this will play into the hands of Leeds who will be happy to keep them at arm’s length and catch them on the counter.
It’s not the easiest match to call but I can see Leeds making things difficult for Norwich and making this a tight game. A glance at Norwich’s recent results shows that they rarely keep clean sheets while Leeds have only failed to score at home once this season.
