Nottingham Forest v Norwich City Predictions, Betting Tips & Preview

Nottingham Forest entertain Norwich City at the City Ground on Saturday. It’s the first Championship clash between these sides since Norwich triumphed 3-1 at Carrow Road in 2015 and all three goal scorers are still on their books. Jonny Howson opened the scoring before Cameron Jerome and Wes Hoolahan each found the net that day and the trio are likely starters this weekend. Howson also netted first on Norwich’s last visit to Notts Forest, so he is likely to be a popular choice for first goalscorer betting. That match ended in a 2-1 victory for the Tricky Trees after two late goals from Britt Assombalonga and the now departed Michail Antonio.

It’s likely to be as you were for the visitors but there is a chance of new Forest signing Nicklas Bendtner pushing for inclusion after coming off the bench to hit the woodwork through the week. However, it’s unlikely that he’ll oust Apostolos Vellios who found the net against Rotherham, so the enigmatic Dane may partner his Greek teammate in attack, if Philippe Montanier decides to shuffle the pack.

Nottingham Forest v Norwich City Prediction

It’s been goals galore for Nottingham Forest of late, at both ends of the pitch. The last 5 matches involving Saturday’s hosts have produced over 2.5 goals. That stat also applies to their last 5 meetings with Norwich, so we can anticipate an open and entertaining game.

Barring a horror show away to Birmingham, the Canaries have been firing too. Alex Neil’s side have averaged over 2 goals per game in their last 6 outings. And like their hosts, have been leaking goals at the back too. Norwich have conceded 6 in their last 3 Championship matches, which adds weight to the case for this being a potential goal-fest.

Forest registered 23 efforts on goal against Rotherham through the week but were made to pay for wasting many of those chances and drew 2-2, despite having an extra man on the pitch in the final 10 minutes. That was their second 2-2 draw in as many matches but they were much more clinical against Aston Villa, managing to scrape a point despite only producing 3 shots.

Norwich came flying out of the blocks against Wigan and Jacob Murphy’s brace had them 2 goals to the good inside 12 minutes. They also started brightly in the 3-2 win over Cardiff City last weekend and never looked troubled once Howson had given them a 2 goal advantage after the interval, the Bluebird’s goals merely consolation once the match was out of sight.
