Huddersfield v Manchester City Prediction, Betting Tips and Preview
Huddersfield take on Manchester City in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday. Read the match preview to find our Huddersfield v Manchester City prediction as the Championship side look to extend a six-game winning streak against the in-form Premier League outfit.
Huddersfield v Manchester City
Huddersfield are only four points away from an automatic promotion spot and manager David Wagner may opt to save a few key players for the league campaign. Leading scorer Elias Kachunga only featured for 45 minutes in the 4-0 win at Rochdale in the previous round and could start again. Jonathan Hogg picked up a knock in the 2-1 win at QPR last weekend and is doubtful while Kasey Palmer and Sean Scannell remain sidelined.
Manchester City sensation Gabriel Jesus has been ruled out for up to three months after being diagnosed with a metatarsal injury. It could open the door for Sergio Aguerro to return to the lineup but Kelechi Iheanacho is also pushing for a place and may be preferred in the Cup. Ilkay Gundogan has been ruled out for the rest of the season, otherwise Pep Guardiola has a full strength squad to select from with fit again, Vincent Kompany in line for a recall.

Huddersfield v Manchester City Prediction
Huddersfield have won the last six competitive matches and won six of the last seven at home, playing a draw in the other. Wagner’s side eased through the previous two rounds of the FA Cup with emphatic 4-0 victories at home to Port Vale and away to Rochdale. Huddersfield are scoring freely with 17 goals in the six game winning streak but have been unable to keep a clean sheet in the last four outings.
Manchester City go to Huddersfield on the back of a 2-0 win at Bournemouth on Monday evening. It was their third consecutive away win without conceding and the fourth win on the bounce. City have been drawn away in each round of the FA Cup this season, although it hasn’t proved to be a disadvantage in any way. They defeated West Ham 5-0 at the London Stadium in the third round and ran out 3-0 winners at Crystal Palace in the fourth round.
Huddersfield are in excellent form and will be fancied by some to cause an upset but Manchester City have a wealth of talent at their disposal and should prove to be too good for the home side.
