Each of our tips pages have predictions for the same four betting markets, which are some of the most popular markets for punters everywhere. These four betting markets are Match Odds, Over/Under 2.5 Goals, Correct Score and Both Teams To Score.

Match Odds covers 90 minutes only, so if any of the FA Cup games go to extra time or penalties, only the result after 90 minutes counts. As an example, if Manchester United vs Chelsea was 0-0 after 90 minutes but Man United won in extra time, the winning selection for the Match Odds market would be ‘Draw’.

Our tips for Over/Under 2.5 goals vary, depending on how good each side are at attacking and defending. If we think there will be 3 or more goals in the match, the tip will be ‘Yes’. If not, it will be ‘No’. Correct Score tips are less likely to come off on a regular basis as there are so many potential scorelines in a football match. Both Teams To Score is exactly as it says on the tin.

FACup betting is particularly interesting due to the fact that the competition is famous for its upsets. Even if a top side is playing against a team down in League Two, everyone knows it will not be an easy game due to the nature of the competition. ‘Giant killings’ can happen at any time, so the top sides always need to be on their game.

The FA Cup really is a unique tournament, as it is the oldest existing football competition in the entire world. The first season of the FA Cup took place in 1871-72, where the game of football looked slightly different than it does today. Any team from the top 10 levels of the English Football League are able to enter the tournament. Those in the lower leagues have to qualify just to reach the 1st Round proper, so the journey to a big match for the minnows makes things even more special.

Most of the FA Cup finals have taken place at Wembley, both in the original Wembley Stadium and the new edition. The first Wembley final took place in 1923 and finals before this were played around the country, in stadiums such as Stamford Bridge, Goodison Park and Old Trafford. In between the closing of the old Wembley Stadium and the opening of the new Wembley, FA Cup finals were played at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

The side with the most FA Cup wins throughout history are Arsenal, winning the famous trophy 13 times up until 2017. The most recent of those came in a great final against Chelsea, eventually winning the game 2-1. This was Arsene Wenger’s side’s 3rd FA Cup win in the space of four years in order to cement their place as the most successful FA Cup side in history.

Going all the way back to the first ever FA Cup, the winners were a team of ex-public schoolboys from London named Wanderers. This side then went on to win five times in the first seven seasons of the competitions. Southern teams dominated the early years, and Blackburn Olympic were the first northern team to lift the trophy. When the Football League was formed in 1888 clubs became professional and the landscape changed.

There has only ever been one non-English side that have lifted the FA Cup, that being Cardiff City in 1927. Welsh sides such as Swansea, Newport and Wrexham all play in the English Football League, but Cardiff are the only ones to ever win the FA Cup. There have also since been a couple of different sides that have enjoyed periods of dominance in the competition.

Newcastle United were excellent in the 1950’s, lifting the trophy three times in the space of just five years. Tottenham Hotspur then won it three times in seven years throughout the 1960’s, leading to many London sides winning the cup in the following years. Though sides in the top flight of English football have dominated for most years, there are some teams to have won this great tournament from the second tier. Sunderland claimed it in 1973, Southampton got the win in 1976 and West Ham United followed those up with a victory in 1973.

The FA Cup betting odds for individual matches in the present day are very interesting, and often provide us with great possibilities of finding extra value. If we believe that a shock is on the cards and the lower league or underdog side may win, the FA Cup odds will be quite high and this presents us with a lot of good value.

If you decide to follow any of our tips, it is important to always remember to bet responsibly. Placing a bet on one of our tipped selections can make a match more interesting, but you should only ever bet what you can afford to lose should the selection go on not to be successful.
