Expert tipster, Alan Kelly is going in strong with his free horse racing tip for the Cross Country Chase at the Cheltenham festival.

With still over two months to go before the 2017 Festival gets underway an ante-post bet on a 4-1 chance may seem the quickest way to the poor house. However, come Wednesday 15th March those odds could look huge about the Enda Bolger-trained Cantlow who, providing the twelve-year-old makes it to Prestbury Park in one piece, is our ante-post tip to prove banker material to lift the Cross Country Chase on the second day of national hunt racing’s extravaganza.

Get a flavour of the Cross Country Chase from this video of the 2015 renewal at Cheltenham Festival.

Free horse racing tip for the Cross Country Chase

Currently available at 4/1 with bet365, Ladbrokes, Betfair Sportsbook and Betway the task awaiting the son of Kayf Tara was made decidedly easier with the announcement that last year’s winner Josies Orders (albeit on the technical disqualification of Any Currency) would not be defending his title due to a recent setback. As both horses are with the same trainer and owner, JP McManus, connections have an able deputy in the ex-Charlie Longsden inmate who has taken to this unique discipline like a duck to water.

Following a spin over hurdles on his seasonal reappearance last October Cantlow proceeded to hack-up in the Risk Of Thunder Chase at Punchestown on his next start, beating a competitive field that included last year’s Irish Gold Cup fourth Foxrock and Grand National fifth Goonyella. Our racing tip was even more impressive on his most recent start when putting nine lengths between himself and runner-up Bless The Wings in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Handicap Chase at Cheltenham in December, a repeat of which should be good enough to land the three mile six furlong contest at the festival.

The likes of Any Currency, Quantitativeeasing and Bless The Wings are likely to be in opposition once again come March but it will be surprising if the Cheltenham tip fails to justify his market position which could be much shorter on the day of the race.
