England vs Australia Prediction and Preview – 27/05/16
International friendly preview – England vs Australia prediction
The England squad will be strengthened by the return of Manchester United and Liverpool players who missed the International friendly against Turkey due to cup final duties. Wayne Rooney and Daniel Sturridge are expected walk into the starting eleven against Australia while Marcus Rashford can expect an opportunity to catch Roy Hodgson’s eye at some point in proceedings. Chris Smalling, Adam Lallana and Nathaniel Clyne will also be hopeful of a run out. Jamie Vardy gets married on Wednesday and will miss the game.
The match does not take place on a FIFA international date and Australia will be without a number of experienced players as Asian clubs refused to release Socceroo regulars Tim Cahill, Trent Salisbury, Mathew Spiranovic and Nathan Burns. Jason Geria won’t be risked with Melbourne Victory playing in the AFC Champions League. Ange Postecoglou made nine changes to the squad that defeated Tajikistan and Jordan in March and it will be a youthful, inexperienced Australia side that takes on England on Friday.
Possible Line-ups
England 4-3-3 formation: Hart; Clyne, Cahill, Smalling, Rose; Wilshere, Dier, Alli; Lallana, Kane, Rooney
Australia 4-3-3 formation: Ryan; Risdon, Wilkinson, Wright, Behich; Luongo, Jedinak, Mckay; Mauk, Maclaren, Goodwin
