Sweden face France in a FIFA World Cup 2018 Qualifier this Friday night. Read the match predictions to find out why Les Bleus are the betting tip to win at the Friends Arena. France sit top of Group A on thirteen points and are yet to lose a game in this qualification process. Sweden are three points behind the visitors but remain in the running to qualify as one of the eight best runners-up across all groups.

Sweden vs France Preview

Sweden welcome back highly rated Benfica defender Victor Lindelöf and he should play alongside Mikael Lustig and skipper Andreas Granqvist at the back. Emil Forsberg scored against France in the reverse fixture and is one to watch for the hosts in midfield. John Guidetti and Marcus Berg look set to partner up at the head of affairs, if head coach Janne Andersson decides to go on the attack.

France are expected to stick with Hugo Lloris between the sticks. Laurent Koscielny was suspended for the FA Cup Final and could therefore get the nod ahead of Rafael Varane to partner Samuel Umtiti in defence, with the Real Madrid man playing in the Champions League final less than a week ago. Alexandre Lacazette will hope for another chance to impress for his country but Antoine Griezmann is almost certain to start here.

Team Predictions Sweden vs France

Sweden 4-4-2 formation: Olsen; Olsson, Granqvist, Lindelöf, Lustig; Larsson, Forsberg, Durmaz, Hiljemark; Berg, Guidetti

France 4-2-3-1 formation: Lloris; Mendy, Koscielny, Umtiti, Jallet; Matuidi, Kante; Payet, Pogba, Dembele; Griezmann

Sweden vs France Prediction

Sweden shocked France into action when these sides met in Saint-Denis back in November. It was a rather tepid affair until Emil Forsberg opened the scoring, only for goals from Paul Pogba and Dimitri Payet to turn the tie on it’s head. The home side will be looking to match the performance levels of that day but know they are in for a tough night.

France are very much in the driving seat in Group A which has been helped by the poor performance of Netherlands who were tipped as rivals to win the pool when the draw was made. Didier Deschamps will be keen to win this match and consolidate top spot, ahead of hosting Oranje in the next round of fixtures.

Sweden are no pushovers but I can’t see them causing France too many problems here. The away side are unbeaten during qualification so far and have won four in a row. I expect the home side to put a shift in but it will be in vain. The tip is France to win with a repeat of the scoreline from the previous meeting.
