Chelsea take on Tottenham Hotspur in a live FA Cup Semi-Final match this Saturday evening. Read the match predictions to find out why a home win is the betting tip at Wembley. Premier League leaders Chelsea are looking to bounce back from a 2-0 defeat away to Manchester United while Tottenham come into this match on the back of a 4-0 win at home to Bournemouth.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Chelsea are expected to welcome back Thibaut Courtois in goal, meaning Asmir Begovic will drop to the bench. Marcos Alonso is expected to play but Victor Moses is doubtful and could be replaced by Pedro on the right. Diego Costa has fitness to prove but should start up-front, flanked by Eden Hazard and Willian. Gary Cahill is out injured for the hosts.

Tottenham will be without Danny Rose through injury, so Ben Davies is nailed on to start at left-back. Michel Vorm is a doubt, so Hugo Lloris will play between the sticks while Erik Lamela and Harry Winks are ruled out. Mauricio Pochettino is likely to favour a three man defence here, meaning Son Heung-min will drop to the bench to accommodate Victor Wanyama.

Team Predictions Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea 3-5-2 formation: Courtois; Zouma, Luiz, Azpilicueta; Alonso, Kante, Matic, Pedro; Hazard, Costa, Willian

Chelsea 3-4-2-1 formation: Lloris; Vertonghen, Alderweireld, Dier; Davies, Dembele, Wanyama, Walker; Eriksen, Alli; Kane

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips

  • Chelsea have won 7 drawn 1 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Tottenham have won 9 drawn 1 and lost 0 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Chelsea have scored an average of 1.7 goals and conceded an average of 1.0 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Tottenham have scored an average of 3.3 goals and conceded an average of 0.6 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 6 of Chelsea’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 9 of Tottenham’s previous 10 matches

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction

Chelsea are almost over the line in the Premier League and will be looking to send a message to their nearest challengers by winning this FA Cup match. The Blues may have stuttered against Manchester United last week but looked good in beating Manchester City and were comfortable winners against Bournemouth in their penultimate match.

Tottenham have closed the gap on Chelsea on the back of some impressive form but have a wretched record against Chelsea. Spurs are on a great run but this match represents their toughest test in a while and there is the small matter of the fact this game is at Wembley, where they have famously underperformed on the European stage this season.

Chelsea are undefeated in their last 21 home matches against Tottenham in all competitions and will draw great confidence from that. Antonio Conte was visually disappointed at Old Trafford and I expect he’ll have his players fired up for this one. It will be a close game but I’m tipping Chelsea to progress to the final.

London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur meet in the Premier League for a televised match on Saturday. Read the match predictions to find out why a home win is the betting tip at Stamford Bridge. The Blues won 0-1 away at Middlesbrough last weekend while Spurs were beaten 2-1 away to Monaco in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Preview

Chelsea have more or less a clean bill of health with fringe players Kurt Zouma and Marco van Ginkel the only doubts for this match. Antonio Conte looks set to name an unchanged XI which will feature Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso as the raiding wing-backs. Eden Hazard looks to have recovered his best form and will be a constant threat to the opposition on the left.

Tottenham are without Marcus Edwards, Erik Lamela, Ben Davies and Toby Alderweireld through injury. Mauricio Pochettino left out Jan Vertonghen against Monaco and he’s expected to come back in at left-back here, with Danny Rose suspended. Harry Kane was at the double against West Ham but looked out of sorts in the defeat to Monaco.

Team Predictions Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea 3-4-3 formation: Courtois; Cahill, Luiz, Azpilicueta; Alonso, Kante, Matic, Moses; Hazard, Costa, Pedro

Tottenham 4-2-3-1 formation: Lloris; Vertonghen, Wimmer, Dier, Walker; Dembele, Wanyama; Eriksen, Alli, Son; Kane

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips

  • Chelsea have won 6 drawn 1 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Tottenham have won 2 drawn 5 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Chelsea have scored an average of 2.1 goals and conceded an average of 0.9 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Tottenham have scored an average of 1.0 goals and conceded an average of 1.0 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Chelsea’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Tottenham’s previous 10 matches

Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur Prediction

Chelsea’s switch to a 3-4-3 system has been a real master-stroke by Antonio Conte and the Blues have soared to the top of the table. They are on a 6-game winning streak in the Premier League and have not conceded a single goal on their current run. They’ve also won by at least a 3 goal margin in each of their previous 3 home games, so confidence is high.

Tottenham were painful to watch in the Champions League and if not for the heroics of Hugo Lloris in goal, they could have lost by more. Spurs are creating chances but Heung-Min Son, who had been firing earlier in the season, is struggling in front of goal. Harry Kane is showing glimpses of his best but is not at top form either and Christian Eriksen is also having a quiet season.

Chelsea have a phenomenal record against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge, with no defeat to their London rivals in 20 meetings at the venue. The Blues have scored at least 2 goals in each of their last 5 home meetings with Spurs in all competitions, so history certainly favours the hosts. The visitors are out of sorts but are capable of scoring. However, Chelsea will win this.

Capital One Cup Final football tips – Chelsea vs Tottenham prediction

The first major trophy of the season will be handed out at Wembley this Sunday, as Chelsea and Spurs go head-to-head at the Capital One Cup final.

Jose Mourinho, has clearly been frustrated over the last few weeks, with the latest incident against Burnley, when Matic was sent off, getting the full treatment on Sky Sports. That 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, followed another 1-1 draw, away to PSG in the Champions League, a match that Chelsea could easily have lost.

Tottenham manager, Mauricio Pochettino, will have been disappointed by the way his team bowed out of the Europa League on Thursday but will be fully focussed on the task at hand. That defeat, means that Spurs have not managed a single victory from their last 4 games, drawing 2 and losing 2.

  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Chelsea have scored an average of 1.6 goals and conceded an average of 0.9 goals per game.
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Tottenham have scored an average of 1.6 goals and conceded an average of 1.4 goals per game.
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Chelsea’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Tottenham’s previous 10 matches.
  • The last time the teams met was a thrilling match, won 5-3 by Spurs at White Hart Lane in January.

Tottenham have no injury or suspension worries for the final, only fatigue from the match in Florence on Thursday night, could cause an issue, especially if match enters extra-time. Christian Eriksen played 90 minutes against Fiorentina but should start and Harry Kane will come back in, having been on the bench.

Chelsea will have to make do without Nemanja Matic, who has been a key figure in their success this season. This should mean a start for Ramires alongside Cesc Fabregas in midfield. The other question marks for Mourinho will be which goalkeeper to play and also who will partner John Terry at the back, with Kurt Zouma pushing for a start, in place of the struggling Gary Cahill.

The Capital One Cup final has the makings of a great game and the result could come down to how well Spurs defend. Individual defensive errors have cost them games and points in recent weeks and pochettino will need his team to be tighter at the back, if they are to win. It’s difficult to envisage Spurs keeping a clean-sheet, therefore they will have to score, at least twice to win, without the aid of extra-time or a penalty shoot-out.

If the match does go beyond 90 minutes, Spurs may struggle to keep pace with Chelsea, given their match on Thursday night.

Chelsea to win in extra-time at 9/1 with Skybet
