AC Milan clash with rivals Inter in Serie A this Sunday. Read the match predictions to find out why the betting tip is a draw at the San Siro. Milan won 1-2 away to Palermo before the international break while Internazionale ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at home to Crotone.
AC Milan vs Inter
Milan could be without Alessio Romagnoli after he picked up a muscular problem with the Italian national team. Gustavo Gomez is expected to replace him in the heart of defence. Andrea Bertolacci, Riccardo Montolivo and Davide Calabria are out injured. Carlos Bacca should lead the line but has Gianluca Lapadula for competition.
Inter have a new man at the helm in Stefano Pioli and what a baptism of fire this will be. It’s thought his preference for a 4-3-3 formation could negate the value of Ever Banega who may be dropped. Cristian Ansaldi and Rodrigo Palacio are doubtful while Andrea Ranocchia is suspended.
Team Predictions AC Milan vs Inter
Milan 4-3-3 formation: Donnarumma; de Sciglio, Paletta, Gomez, Abate; Bonaventura, Locatelli, Kucka; Niang, Bacca, Suso
Inter 4-3-3 formation: Handanovic; Santon, Murillo, Miranda, Ansaldi; Mario, Medel, Brozovic; Peresic, Icardi, Candreva
AC Milan vs Inter Betting Tips
- Milan have won 8 drawn 1 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
- Inter have won 4 drawn 0 and lost 6 of their last 10 matches
- Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Milan have scored an average of 1.9 goals and conceded an average of 0.8 goals per game
- Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Inter have scored an average of 1.2 goals and conceded an average of 1.3 goals per game
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Milan’s previous 10 matches
- There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Inter’s previous 10 matches
AC Milan vs Inter Prediction
Milan have put together a good run of form to move up to third in the Serie A table. A 3-0 loss away to Genoa is the only blot on their copy book from the last 10 matches and that was followed by a 1-0 win at home to Pescara. The Rossoneri kept the pressure on Palermo to ensure the victory last time and will be tough to beat here.
Inter have not performed to anywhere near their best but make no mistake, this is a talented squad. Defensive frailties cost them in a 1-0 loss away to Sampdoria which prompted the departure of Frank De Boer. That was followed by a 2-1 defeat to Southampton in the Europa League but they got it right against Crotone and come into this on the back of a win.
Milan have won by a single goal in each of their previous 3 home games while Inter have lost by the same margin in each of their last 3 away games. Romagnoli will be a big miss for the hosts and Inter may benefit from a spike in performance with a new head coach. I’m going to sit on the fence and predict a draw in this one.

Serie A preview – AC Milan vs Inter Milan prediction.
AC Milan centre-back Cristian Zapata is set to replace Alex who injured his knee against Empoli last Sunday. Giacomo Bonaventura is doubtful with a back problem with Jura Kucka and Kevin Boateng among the options for coach Sinisa Mihajlovic. 16-year-old goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma faces competition now that Diego Lopez has returned from a three-month absence with an injured knee.
Inter Milan attacking midfielder Ivan Peresic is expected to recover from the sprained ankle which kept him out of the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg at Juventus. Mauro Icardi was left out of the starting lineup on Wednesday and with the alternatives struggling to make an impact, the club’s leading scorer is expected to start on Sunday.

Prediction
AC Milan defeated Serie B title challengers Alessandria in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final on Tuesday to take their unbeaten run to five games in all competitions. Defeated just once in the last eight games in Serie A, failure to beat the division’s minnows sees Mihajlovic’s men in the shadow of their Milan neighbours. Within the last five weeks, AC drew with Verona and lost 1-0 to Bologna in home games but the 2-0 home victory over Fiorentina two weeks ago is an indication of their capability.
Inter have won just once in the league this year and crashed to a 3-0 cup defeat at Juventus in midweek. Roberto Mancini’s side has only lost one league game on the road this season, 2-1 at Napoli in November. However, they have mostly visited bottom half sides and face trips to Fiorentina, Juventus and Roma among the following four away games.
On current form, AC Milan have every chance to avenge the 1-0 defeat in September when it was Inter’s turn to be the ‘home’ team.
