Bundesliga preview – FC Koln v FC Ingolstadt 04 prediction

FC Koln centre back Dominic Maroh may be ready to provide some experience to the defensive unit. Kevin Vogt could lose his spot in midfield with the attacking Gerhardt coming in having appeared off the bench in recent games. Peter Stoger is likely to once again go with two strikers, Anthony Modeste has been partnered by both Simon Zoller and more recently Yuya Osako.

Ingolstadt will have no real concerns over any of his squad with just Almog Cohen missing. The main decision for Ralph Hasenhuttl will be whether to revert to a 4-3-3 formation that has served them so well away from home or keep with the 4-3-2-1 from Tuesday. Lukas Hinterseer retains his place up front and Elias Kachunga will be asked to make an impact from the bench.

Possible Line-ups

FC Koln: 4-4-2 formation: Horn; Olkowski, Sorensen, Heintz, Hector; Risse, Gerhardt, Lehmann, Bittencourt; Modeste, Osako

Ingolstadt: 4-3-3 formation: Ozcan; Levels, Matip, Hubner, Suttner; Groß, Roger, Morales; Lex, Hinterseer, Leckie;

Prediction

FC Koln currently rank 5th in the Bundesliga for home ties with 2 wins and a defeat from their 3 games season. Although coming off a defeat to Hertha Berlin on Tuesday night, Peter Stoger will want to maintain their good run of form at home. Anthony Modeste will want to get back into goal scoring form having failed to find the net in Koln’s last 2 games.

Ingolstadt have 3 wins from their 3 away games this season, winning each 1-0, which accounts for 9 of their 10 points this season. The Bundesliga new comers have found a method which works, sitting deep and hitting teams on the break with their wide men. Ralph Hasenhuttl will hope they can keep the game tight and sneak a winner in the usual fashion.

We have gone for FC Koln to end Ingolstadt’s fantastic away run here, maintaining their own impressive home form. Ingolstadt have not given many goals away this season and we expect them to keep it tight, at least for the first half, not many goals in this one.
