Leicester last met Sheff Utd in the League Cup back in August where they progressed comfortably with a 4-1 win away at Bramall Lane. That match saw two goals from Islam Slimani and one from Ahmed Musa who have now been loaned out to Newcastle and CSKA Moscow but they should have enough firepower from Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, who is back playing first-team football following disruptions regarding his refused transfer request in January, to pose some attacking threat on the Blades.
Leicester have had mixed form of late and are currently winless in their last three matches. In their most recent fixture, they suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat to Manchester City which Leicester manager Claude Puel will want his team to put aside coming into Friday’s game.
Shinji Okazaki is likely to miss the game with a knee injury while defender Wes Morgan could make his return to the squad following a month and a half long absence with a hamstring injury.
Sheffield United suffered two consecutive defeats against Aston Villa and Wolves but bounced back with a 2-1 victory over Leeds on Saturday. They’ve had a mixed run of form this season which has left them just outside of the playoff zone. They have two winnable games against QPR and Hull following Friday’s FA Cup clash which manager Chris Wilder will be hoping to collect maximum points from and move them back up the table to be in with a chance of playing in the Premier League next season.
Goalkeeper Simon Moore picked up a straight red in the 3-0 loss against Championship leaders Wolves and will be suspended for this match while midfielder Paul Coutts is still out with a long-term leg injury.
