Brighton & Hove Albion take on Queens Park Rangers in a televised Championship match this Tuesday. Read the match predictions to find out why a home win is the betting tip at The AmEx. The Seagulls left it late to secure a 1-2 win away to Birmingham last time out while QPR slumped to another defeat, this time losing 0-1 at the hands of Aston Villa.

Brighton vs Queens Park Rangers Preview

Brighton have relied heavily on the goals of Glenn Murray this season and he came to the rescue once again with a last minute header to win at Birmingham. He’ll be joined by Sam Baldock in attack while Anthony Knockaert will pull the strings and look to supply the strikers from the right. He will need to watch his discipline though, as along with Gaetan Bong and Lewis Dunk, one more booking will result in suspension.

QPR have no fresh injury concerns, so Ian Holloway could field a relatively unchanged starting XI here. Nedum Onuoha, Tjaronn Chery and Massimo Luongo are each one booking away from a ban. Idrissa Sylla will hope to lead the line, with Conor Washington dropping to the bench after a poor performance last time out. Neither striker is firing in truth and the danger could come from Chery in the hole.

Team Predictions Brighton vs Queens Park Rangers

Brighton 4-4-2 formation: Stockdale; Dunk, Duffy, Saltor; Skalak, Sidwell, Stevens, Knockaert; Baldock, Murray

QPR 4-4-1-1 formation: Smithies; Bidwell, Lynch Onuoha, Perch; NGbakoto, Hall, Luongo, Wszolek; Chery; Sylla

Brighton vs Queens Park Rangers Betting Tips

  • Brighton have won 8 drawn 2 and lost 0 of their last 10 matches
  • QPR have won 2 drawn 1 and lost 7 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Brighton have scored an average of 1.9 goals and conceded an average of 0.5 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, QPR have scored an average of 0.5 goals and conceded an average of 1.3 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Brighton’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of QPR’s previous 10 matches

Brighton vs Queens Park Rangers Prediction

Brighton are on a three game winning streak and have pulled 8 points clear of the chasing pack in the battle for automatic promotion. They beat a form side in Leeds 2-0 at home and then battled to a 3-2 away at Blackburn. It was a little more nervy away to Birmingham last time but they’ll be buoyant after snatching a late win.

Queens Park Rangers are dropping like a stone and it’s hard to see where the next win will come from. They haven’t been letting that many goals in but have failed to score in four of their last five matches which is worrying. Now just 3 points above the drop zone, QPR need to turn things around and fast.

Given how good Brighton are at defending and how poor QPR have been at finding the net, a clean sheet looks pretty much nailed on for the hosts. The Seagulls may have an opportunity to go top, depending on what happens between Newcastle and Sheff Wed on Boxing Day. Either way, I can’t see anything but a cosy home win for the home side here.
