Marseille come into this game after two consecutive 3-0 defeats to league-leaders PSG. First in the league and then in the Coupe de France. Rudi García’s side are currently third in Ligue 1, two points behind second-placed Monaco who have yet to play PSG away. The title race may be over with PSG dominating but second place, which guarantees a spot in next season Champions League, is very much still up for grabs.
The two defeats to PSG followed a 1-0 loss to Braga in the Europa League playoffs, making it three straight defeats for García’s men. However, only one of those defeats was in the league and before those, they were on a 12-game unbeaten run, winning 10 and drawing 2.
Marseille won the reverse fixture against Nantes earlier this season with Lucas Ocampos scoring the only goal in the 87th-minute. García will be happy with a similar result on Sunday and will be confident his side can bounce back from the two cup exits given that his team has collected 30 points from a possible 39 at home this season.
Gregory Sertic and Konstantinos Mitroglou both remain out for the home side while Florian Thauvin is a doubt after coming off in the cup exit to PSG midweek.
Nantes sit in sixth position in the league but are actually closer on points to the bottom three than they are to fourth place. They are winless in their last four games and have only seen victory once in their last nine.
