Torino suffered a surprising defeat away to second-bottom Verona on Sunday. Prior to that match, Verona had lost 7 of their last 8 matches and three points leaves them just two points from safety. Torino now sit 9th in Serie A and look destined to finish mid-table. Last weeks defeat has left Walter Mazzarri’s side 8 points adrift of a Europa League spot with 12 games remaining and although it’s possible they could close that gap, it’s unlikely given they still have to play Napoli, Roma and Inter Milan.
Torino’s home form has been steady and they have only lost two of their last 11 home games. Prior to their 1-0 defeat to Juventus, they has won 3 consecutive games on home soil, scoring 8 goals and not conceding at any.
Defensive options are a concern for Walter Mazzarri with Lyanco and Cristian Molinaro out through injury and Nicolas Burdisso suspended after picking up another yellow card last week in the 2-1 loss to Verona. Emiliano Moretti is likely to take Burdisso’s place at centreback.
Crotone have lost their last two matched 3-2 to Spal and Benevento and prior to that drew three consecutive matches 1-1. Walter Zenga’s men are struggling to pick up points which has left them just one point above the bottom three and in real danger of slipping down further. Following Sunday’s match, Crotone have fixtures against Roma and Sampdoria who are both challenging for Champions League and Europa League places.
