Sheffield Wednesday’s push for the playoffs continues after grinding out a win away to Wigan. The Owls have lost just one of their last nine Championship matches, so are looking a tough side to beat at the moment. If they can maintain this form, then they will almost certainly be in with a shot at promotion come the end of the season.

It’s been hard going for new Birmingham boss Gianfranco Zola but the Italian is off the mark at the eleventh time of asking. The Blues are nine points adrift of the playoff places but have plenty of time to recover lost ground. However, recent results suggest going on a winning run is unlikely and I feel they will struggle in this match.

Sheffield Wednesday’s home form has been terrific, with only Ipswich, Brighton and Leeds winning at Hillsborough this season. Conversely, Birmingham City have been woeful on the road and come into this match with just a single away win in their last twelve away games in the Championship. The home side would need to have an off day to allow Birmingham to get a result here and I see Sheff Wed winning comfortably.
