Champions League preview – Partizan Belgrade vs BATE Borisov prediction

Partizan have no real injury concerns ahead of this Champions League play-off, second leg match. However, defensive midfielder Marko Jevtovic will miss the match, having been sent off for two bookable offences in the first leg. His place may go to the experienced Sasa Ilic but other than that, the starting XI should be very similar to that of the last match.

BATE Borisov travel to Serbia, with what looks a clean bill of health and no suspension worries, meaning a full squad to choose from. BATE made a number of changes to the team which won their domestic league match at the weekend and therefore, the bulk of team should be fresh and ready to go.

Possible Line-ups

Partizan Belgrade: 4-3-3 formation: Zivkovic; Vulicevic, Balazic, Fabricio, Petrovic; Babovic, Ilic, Brasanac; Zivkovic, Bozhinov, Oumaru

BATE Borisov: 4-2-3-1 formation: Chernik; Zhavnerchik, Polyakov, Milunovic, Mladenovic; Aleksievich, Yablonski; Gordeychuk, Hleb, Volodko; Rodionov

  • Partizan Belgrade have won 6, drawn 1 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • BATE Borisov have won 5, drawn 3 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Partizan Belgrade have scored an average of 2.6 goals and conceded an average of 1.2 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, BATE Borisov have scored an average of 2 goals and conceded an average of 0.6 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 7 of Partizan Belgrade’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of BATE Borisov’s previous 10 matches
  • BATE have failed to win in any of their previous 12 away European games

Both teams come in to this match, having secured good wins in their respective domestic leagues at the weekend, however, this is set to be a different test altogether. Partizan have a strong record at home in Champions League competition, having won 4 and drawn 1 of their last 5 games at the Stadion Partizana. BATE’s away record doesn’t make for such good reading and they have failed to win a match away from home in their history of playing in the Champions League, which spans 9 games.

That being said, they have drawn their last 2 away games in Europe and this is a result, which would be good enough to send them through to the group stages of this season’s competition.

There is not a great deal to separate the teams and it could come down to a moment of brilliance or a defensive error. The fact Partizan went down to 10 men in the first leg has to be taken in to account and they still had chances to score an away goal but failed to take them. Partizan have enough to turn around the deficit but can they keep a clean sheet in the process?

We say: Partizan to win by 1 goal at 11/4 with Bet365
