Serie A preview – Palermo vs Inter prediction

Palermo are definitely without three players, as Uros Djurdjevic, Michel Morganella and Francesco Bolzoni are all injured. Manager Giuseppe Iachini may choose to keep Enzo Maresca in central midfield and frustrate Inter Milan with five players across the middle of the park.

Inter Milan are still without Nemanja Vidic and Adam Ljajic is a doubt but other than that, Roberto Mancini has a fully fit and available squad for the trip to Sicily. It will be interesting to see if Mancini sticks with the same midfield three or opts to bring Geoffrey Kondogbia back in to the team.

Possible Line-ups

Palermo: 3-5-2 formation: Sorrentino; Struna, Gonzalez, Andjelkovic; Rispoli, Hiljemark, Rigoni, Maresca, Lazaar; Vazquez, Gilardino

Inter Milan: 4-3-1-2 formation: Handanovic; Santon, Miranda, Murillo, Jesus; Melo, Medel, Guarin; Perisic; Icardi, Jovetic

Prediction

Having started the season well, Palermo endured a torrid run of four straight defeats in Serie A during September. Thankfully for the club, they managed to put a stop to their poor run with a 1-0 win at Bologna last time out. Scoring goals had not been a problem in the last few matches for Palermo but defensively they could not keep them out. Having kept a clean sheet in Bologna, they will be hopeful of getting a positive result in this game.

After a strong start to the season, winning a number of games, Inter Milan have failed to win any of their last three Serie A matches. The 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Fiorentina seems to have been a bit of a kick in the teeth, although a point at Sampdoria and at home to Juventus, may been seen as decent results. Roberto Mancini will see this as a game where Inter can get back in to the winning habit.

Although Palermo won their last match in Serie A, it does not hide the fact they have been struggling and Inter could return home with maximum points.
