La Liga preview – Getafe vs Sevilla prediction.

Getafe welcome back Emiliano Velazquez from suspension and the Uruguayan defender is likely go straight into a reshuffled back four. Estudiantes loanee Alvaro Pereira marred his debut by getting sent off in the 4-0 defeat at Las Palmas on Tuesday leaving Fran Escriba struggling to cover Roberto Lago’s absence at left back. Right winger Karim Yoda can play on the left and may be asked to drop into the vacant spot while Santiago Vergini moves to the right for the sidelined Damian Suarez and Carlos Vigaray. Wanderson’s promotion to the first team has not yielded results and club captain Pedro Leon could be recalled to the starting XI.

Timothee Kolodziejczak is set to return to the Sevilla back four after serving his suspension. Fernando Llorente will hope to keep his place in the lineup after scoring the winner against Eibar on Wednesday which would leave 13-goal Kevin Gameiro kicking his heels on the bench. Nicolas Pareija is training again as he works towards a comeback from cruciate ligament injury while Grzegorz Krychowiak remains sidelined with a knee injury.

Possible Line-ups

Getafe 4-2-3-1 formation: Guaita; Vergini, Velazquez, Cala, Yoda; Medran, Lacen; Buendia, Sarabia, Pedro; Scepovic

Sevilla 4-2-3-1 formation: Rico; Mariano, Rami, Carrico, Tremoulinas; N’Zonzi, Cristoforo; Reyes, Banega, Krohn-Dehli; Llorente

Prediction

Getafe are plummeting toward the drop zone after a run of seven consecutive defeats in La Liga and have failed to score in the last six. The midweek defeat at Las Palmas allowed the islanders to leapfrog Getafe and out of the bottom three. Fran Escriba’s men are now only two points above Gijon in 18th and beset with injury problems among the back four. Getafe have lost the last three homes 1-0 (v Athletic Club, Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo) having previously been unbeaten in seven games at the Coliseum.

Fifth-placed Sevilla pulled two points clear of Celta Vigo in sixth following the midweek victory over Eibar. Unai Emery is still looking to solve his side’s travel sickness as Sevilla are yet to win away from home in the league with approaching three-quarters of the season gone. They lost 2-1 in Barcelona on the last road trip and had previously drawn five of six away days since the end of November.

Sevilla will have few better opportunities to end their winless run away from home and can take advantage of Getafe’s low morale.
