Premier League preview – Liverpool vs Tottenham prediction.

Divock Origi and Christian Benteke were released early by Belgium to allow treatment on knocks and along with Roberto Firmino, Lucas Lieva and Alberto Moreno, are hoping to be available for Liverpool on Saturday. Joe Allan produced a man-of-the-match performance for Wales on Monday and could retain his place in midfield. Jordan Henderson and Martin Skrtel are pushing for starts while Philippe Coutinho’s involvement could rest on how he feels after the long flight back from South America where he has been on international duty with Brazil.

Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld was hit by a stomach bug while on duty with Portugal and will be assessed on his return. Moussa Dembele received treatment for a sore ankle while with Belgium but is expected to get the all clear for Saturday. Erik Lamela will fly back from Argentina later in the week and may be rested. Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose boosted their reputations when representing England and should all make the starting line-up.

Prediction

Liverpool squandered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 at Southampton in their last Premier League game. It ended a promising run of three consecutive league wins during a spell in which they also qualified for the Europa League quarter-finals. Liverpool’s home form has been disappointing this season with five wins and five draws in 13 league games. However, they did beat Manchester City 3-0 at Anfield in the last home game and Daniel Sturridge has hit the ground running after a long layoff.

Tottenham offered little resistance when eliminated from the Europa League by Borussia Dortmund. But it was business as usual when defeating a resurgent Bournemouth side 3-0 at White Lane last time. Tottenham have only lost two Premier League games on the road this season however they have not won Anfield since 2011.

Tottenham have their sights on the Premier League title and can end their five-year Anfield jinx.
