Serie A preview – AC Milan vs Juventus prediction.

Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic will be forced into changes for the visit of league leaders Juventus on Saturday. Central midfielder Andrea Bertolacci is suspended for one game after picking up a yellow card against Atalanta on Sunday while Riccardo Montolivo is doubtful after receiving treatment on a thigh injury. Juraj Kucka has been out for nearly a month leaving Andrea Poli and Jose Mauri the most likely midfield replacements. Luiz Adriano scored his first goal in four months when converting a penalty at the weekend and is coming under pressure from Mario Balotelli for a place in the starting eleven.

Giorgio Chiellini suffered another setback at the weekend when his comeback for Juventus lasted just 53 minutes before being struck with a thigh injury. Leonardo Bonucci will replace the club captain if he passes a fitness test after being sidelined last week. Striker Paulo Dybala is doubtful as he recovers from calf injury giving Alvaro Morata another opportunity to show his worth. Sami Khedira serves the second of his two-match ban.

Possible Line-ups

Milan 4-4-2 formation: Donnarumma; Abate, Zapata, Romagnoli, Antonelli; Honda, Poli, Maurii, Bonaventura; Adriano, Bacca

Juventus 3-5-2 formation: Buffon; Rugani, Bonucci, Barzagli; Lichtsteiner, Pereyra, Marchisio, Pogba Evra; Morata, Mandzukic

Statistics

  • Juventus have won 6 drawn 3 and lost 1 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, AC Milan have scored an average of 1.4 goals and conceded an average of 0.8 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Juventus have scored an average of 1.5 goals and conceded an average of 0.8 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of AC Milan’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of Juventus’ previous 10 matches

Prediction

Milan have not won in their last four games although three of those have been away from San Siro, losing 2-1 at Atalanta on Sunday, drawing 0-0 at Chievo and losing 2-0 at Sassuolo. The last home game finished 1-1 against Lazio when Milan, once again, failed to make the most of their chances. Milan have only lost twice at home this season, going down 4-0 against Napoli last October and losing 1-0 against Bologna in January.

Juventus have won 20 of the last 21 league games, Bologna able to boast holding the defending champions to a goalless draw in February. Juve’s 4-1 win in the Turin derby on 20 March is the only time they have conceded a goal in the last 12 league games. Juventus have won the last two meetings with Milan at San Siro without conceding.

Milan’s recent record of two goals in four games is not the sort of stat to concern Juventus who should see this game through in customary fashion.
