Horse Racing Tips – Newbury Spring Cup
Horse racing tips for the one-mile Newbury Spring Cup, the big handicap at Newbury on Saturday. The one thing that can be guaranteed regarding Saturday’s Newbury Spring Cup is that the race will be run under testing conditions. The heavy ground which currently prevails at the Berkshire venue is unlikely to improve very much before the weekend, a situation which should suit the David Menuisier-trained Sinfonietta down to the ground. The lightly-raced four-year-old runs off a lowly mark of just 76 and will take plenty of beating in the hands of top lightweight jockey Franny Norton.
Following several creditable efforts in France as a juvenile, the son of Sinndar has taken his time to hit top form for his current handler. He could not have been more impressive on his seasonal reappearance at Nottingham earlier this month when running out an easy six-length winner over Spa’s Dancer despite being eased in the closing stages. That extended one-mile contest was run on heavy ground so neither the trip or the testing going will pose a problem for the gelding in Saturday’s £50,000 historic handicap.
