Horse Racing Tip – bet365 Mile at Sandown
Soft ground specialist Belardo looks sure to go off a short priced favourite for Friday’s bet365 Mile at Sandown with conditions at the Esha track sure to suit. But the Roger Varian-trained Dewhurst Stakes winner is not the type to get involved with at a short price and despite having to concede 3lb to his rivals William Buicks mount Toormore looks the value of the race at the 5-1 generally available.
Unbeaten in three starts as a juvenile the son of Arakan found life tough against the likes of Kingman and Night Of Thunder as a three-year-old but still ran well on a number of occasions, particularly when finishing a close third in Ascots QE11 run on heavy ground.
A close second in Newbury’s Lockinge Stakes on his seasonal reappearance in 2015 was followed by some decent efforts at the highest level along with a victory in Goodwood’s Group 2 Lennox Stakes over fellow rival Dutch Connection who should struggle to reverse the form on these terms.
Back in that grade Richard Hannon’s five-year-old can get the better of the favourite who will find this harder than when landing the odds in a Doncaster Listed race last month. Of the rest, Adaay may find this mile trip a step too far and while Breton Rock will like the ground looks to be up against it in this company.
