Horse Racing Tip – 2.40 York 11-05-16
Four years ago the Kevin Ryan-trained Bogart had an official rating of 110 due to several high-class efforts including a close fourth in the Group 2 Duke Of York Stakes at this meeting. The son of Bahamian Bounty’s only victory since then came back on the Knavesmire when taking an ultra-competitive sprint handicap at the Ebor meeting the following year off a mark of 97.
While the seven-year-old’s form last season was a bit hitty-missy the gelding has now dropped to a career low of 88 and it must surely be only a matter of time before the horse is back in the winner’s enclosure, a situation which could well occur as soon as 2.40 on the opening day of York’s Dante meeting on Wednesday.
Bogart’s best performance last season came when finishing a close third to recent Chester winner Kimberella off 5lb higher, a reproduction of which could be good enough to take the Infinity Tyres Stakes, especially as Ryan stated in a recent interview that the horse had looked back to something like his best in recent homework.
Stablemate and likely favourite Flaming Spear may prove the biggest danger along with the Tim Easterby runner See The Sun who won a big sprint handicap here in 2014 and got back to winning ways at Doncaster recently.
