Horse Racing Tip – 4.40 York 13-05-16
Ten horses have been declared for York’s Betway Jorvik Handicap at 4.40 on Friday afternoon for which the Roger Varian-trained Barsanti will prove popular in an effort to land a hat-trick of victories following wins on the all-weather at Chelmsford and Kempton earlier this year. But, at the 14-1 available with Skybet, it could be worth taking on Andrea Atzeni mount with Croquembouche.
The seven-year-old has not won since landing a Windsor handicap back in April 2015 but has gone close on a number of occasions since including when finishing second to Notorised in this race 12 month’s ago off a 1lb higher mark. The Acclamation gelding set out to make all the running on the Knavesmire only giving best, well inside the final furlong.
Sixth on that occasion was Sir Michael Stoute’s Top Tug, so it is hard to see why that horse should be as short as 9-2 to reverse the form on 7lb worse terms. Oasis Fantasy finally got his head in front at Newmarket last time but is far from consistent, a remark which also applies to Fire Fighting and Pearl Castle.
Fattsota may need this on his first run of the season leaving stablemate Chancery as the one most likely to cause Ed de Giles’ runner most problems.
