The mount of Jeremiah McGrath ran out an impressive winner over hurdles at Aintree last year off a mark of 144, the same rating the six-year-old will be racing off over fences in tomorrow's extended 2m 5f contest. With this being only the gelding's sixth start over the bigger obstacles the son of Smadoun could easily achieve a mark in the 150's as the season progresses. Following a couple of promising efforts, Theinval finally got off the mark as a chaser when comfortably beating the consistent Jimmy The Jetplane at Uttoxeter back in May, a run which should put the horse spot-on to land this valuable prize.
Theinval runs off a handy 10st 13lb thanks to the classy Ballynagour topping the weights on 11st 12lb. The David Pipe inmate may struggle to give close to a stone to the selection on this occasion making the unexposed Long House Hall a more serious rival. Second behind Diamond King in the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival Harry Skelton's mount looks sure to make his mark as a chaser this season and can follow Theinval home providing his lack of experience does not prove a disadvantage.
