Aston Villa vs Wolves Prediction, Betting Tips and Preview
Aston Villa play host to Wolves in the Championship this Saturday. Read the match predictions to find out why a draw is the betting tip for this local derby.
Aston Villa vs Wolves Preview
Aston Villa lost 2-0 away at Preston before the international break and that was the straw that broke the camel’s back as Roberto Di Matteo was sharply shown the exit door. They dropped to 19th in the table and sit on 10 points, 5 behind 12th-placed Wolves who went down 1-2 at home to Norwich last time out.
New boss Steve Bruce could go back to basics and play 4-4-2 to try and get some stability. That would mean Jordan Ayew being partnered by either Rudy Gestede or Ross McCormack in attack. Alan Hutton is doubtful after another injury setback and could be replaced by Micah Richards at right-back.
Wolves boss Walter Zenga has set up with a 4-3-3 recently and is expected to continue with a trio of Portuguese attackers here. David Edwards scored a consolation goal in the defeat to Norwich and will keep his place in the heart of midfield.

Aston Villa vs Wolves Prediction
Aston Villa rode their luck before fighting back to draw 1-1 with Newcastle before registering a fifth successive stalemate away to Barnsley. They then looked fresh out of ideas away to Preston and find themselves well down the table.
Wolves have been posting patchy form and followed up a well-earned 3-1 victory over Brentford with a dismal effort in the 2-1 loss away at Wigan. Last time out they ran into a good outfit in Norwich and will be keen to avoid a third straight defeat.
These local rivals haven’t locked horns for a while but it’s interesting to note that Villa have only lost once to Wolves in the last 15 meetings. 3 of the last 5 competitive meetings have ended level and let’s not forget, Villa are the Championship’s draw specialists.
Looking at the averages, this game is unlikely to produce a goal-fest. I’m expecting a tense 90 minutes with Villa needing to stop the rot and Wolves looking to get back to winning ways. Sitting on the fence looks like the best option here.
