The Three Lions may not be pulling up any trees but the results are positive and their defence is yet to be breached.
Gordon Strachan’s job may be resting on this game, such is his unpopularity North of the border. Scotland were the only home nation not to make it to Euro 2016 and a poor start to this qualification process leaves them with an uphill struggle to get to Russia. The Tartan Army had something to shout about in a 1-5 victory away to Malta but a 1-1 home draw with Lithuania was a reality check and the latest setback against Slovakia has intensified the pressure on the head coach.
England have won four of the past 5 meetings with Scotland and have scored three goals in the last two matches against their rivals. A home win will consolidate top spot and leave Scotland in deep trouble, as well as giving the England fans something to sout about after a difficult few months.
