Armenia’s consolation goal against Poland was their first in this qualification process. They were difficult for Denmark to break down in the opening match but ended up losing 1-0. However, they were subsequently picked apart in a 0-5 thrashing at the hands of Romania, prior to the defeat in Warsaw.
It’s been a lot more positive for montenegro, who got the campaign underway with a 1-1 draw away to Romania. That match was a real slow-burner and only came to life in the dying moments with Stevan Jovetic cancelling out Adrian Popa’s late strike. Montenegro had their shooting boots on when hammering Kazakhstan 5-0 and then showed brilliant organisation in defence to grind out the win in Copenhagen.
Montenegro have been the surprise package of this pool so far, with Denmark and Romania yet to get up and running. I’m tipping the away side to get a victory to enhance their claims of qualifying for the finals and don’t anticipate much resistance from the hosts.
