France welcome Sweden in a World Cup qualifier that could go some way to determining the winner of Group A. Read the match predictions to find out why Les Bleus are the betting tip to win at the Stade de France this Friday. The hosts put in a professional performance to win 0-1 away to Netherlands last time out while Sweden overcame winless Bulgaria 3-0.

France vs Sweden Preview

France are missing Alphonse Areola, Samuel Umtiti, Bacary Sagna and Layvin Kurzawa through injury, with Eliaquim Mangala added to the squad. Juventus winger Kingsley Coman will need to prove his fitness after an ankle problem while Kevin Gameiro may be preferred to Olivier Giroud up front.

Sweden have injury problems with Marcus Berg, Mikael Lustig and Martin Olsson all forced to withdraw from the squad. It’s expected that Oscar Hiljemark and will be dropped, with Jakob Johansson likely to take his place in midfield.

  • Sweden have won 3 drawn 3 and lost 4 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, France have scored an average of 1.9 goals and conceded an average of 0.5 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Sweden have scored an average of 1.1 goals and conceded an average of 0.8 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 4 of France’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 3 of Sweden’s previous 10 matches

France vs Sweden Prediction

France were out of sorts in the opening Group A match with Belarus and drew 0-0 away. However, they got up and running in good style with a 4-1 victory over Bulgaria. Paul Pogba’s thunderbolt proved to be the difference in Amsterdam and the Euro 2016 finalists are beginning to build momentum.

Sweden could only draw 1-1 with Netherlands in the opening game and didn’t look convincing at all when struggling to overcome Luxembourg 0-1 away. They weren’t tested in an easy match against Bulgaria but that won’t be the case here.

France’s last defeat at home in a World Cup qualifier was a 0-1 defeat to Spain in 2013 and they’ve scored at least 3 goals in three subsequent wins since then. In fact, it’s been 11 straight wins at home for the French in all competitions and I can see them extending that run here.
