Free horse racing tip for the BetVictor Gold Cup at Cheltenham on Saturday November 12. The sponsor has been very generous in offering 6 places in this weekend’s feature handicap at Prestbury Park and we’re looking for each way  value tips in this prestigious event, known as the Mackeson Gold Cup until 1995.

BetVictor’s quote of 16-1 about a repeat victory for last year’s winner Annacotty may prove to be more than generous as the Alan King-trained eight-year-old simply loves it around the home of National Hunt racing and despite running off a mark 9lb higher than 12 months ago the son of Beneficial will not give up his title lightly in the race .

The gelding has won on three occasions at Prestbury Park and his best form is with plenty of cut in the ground. An unsettled forecast for the area over the rest of the week plus the clerk of the course’s assurance that ground on the soft side of good will prevail for the three-day meeting should ensure that the recent dry spell will not spoil the first major fixture of the 2016/2017 Jumps season.

A half length in front of fellow rival Buywise last year, Annacotty will face Evan Williams’ charge on 7lb worse terms but that horse tends to get going too late after encountering problems with the stiff Cheltenham fences. Paul Nicholls’ Art Mauresque has been in good form of late but any easing in the ground will be a disadvantage and the hattrick-seeking gelding has more than six lengths to make up on Annacotty off the same terms.

Likely favourite Frodon may tun out to be thrown-in off his light weight but lack of experience in such a competitive affair may prove the undoing of the ex-French four-year-old. A bigger threat could emerge in the shape of past World Hurdle winner More Of That who is a class act if getting his ground and is fit enough after breaking a blood vessel in the RSA Chase at the Festival back in March.
