The European Tour breaks new ground this week with the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, which will be the first tri-sanctioned tournament to be staged by the Tour. The second renewal of this event moves to a new venue this year, the picturesque Four Seasons Golf Club at Anahita, which will at least provide a spectacular backdrop for another decidedly weak looking heat.

The Ernie Els designed 7,401yd Par 72 layout is set against lush mountains and crystal clear lagoons, with six stunning ocean-side holes running alongside the Indian Ocean. The course was designed as a resort course, so there is plenty of room to find these generous fairways and big hitters should have an advantage this week. Course form for much of the field is pretty much non-existent, but the Mauritius Masters has been played at Anahita from 2010-2015 which gives us some betting clues for the two selections this week. Course form could prove vital this week as it’s meant to really blow all four days, with winds of around 25mph forecast mixed in with warm sunshine and showers.

Max Orrin 50/1 E/W William Hill

The hopeful nap this week is awarded to the promising young Englishman Max Orrin, who does have course form having won the Mauritius Masters for the last two years. Although those wins were only in 30 man professional fields in a pro-am format, it at least shows the track fits his eye, and his course knowledge could prove vital in tricky conditions this week.

He turned professional in 2013 after playing in the Walker Cup, and despite only turning 22 this week, he has already posted two wins on the Challenge Tour. His last win in the 2015 Made in Denmark Challenge was particularly impressive, as it was gained in ultra windy conditions on the final day, which shows this Margate youngster is comfortable playing in tough conditions. He warmed up for this gig with a decent Tied 22nd place finish in Morocco last week, and this big-hitting youngster will hopefully celebrate his 22nd birthday in style.
