The first contest between the sides finished as a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge where chances were at a premium. That has pretty much left this game as a one off contest for a place in the Carabao Cup final. Arsenal are expected to confirm that Alexis Sanchez has left the club in the next few days to join Manchester United, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan arriving at the Emirates as part of the deal. The Gunners swept Crystal Palace aside on Saturday in a much needed win.
There are a couple of injury problems for Arsene Wenger to deal with too. Santi Cazorla is a long term absentee, while Olivier Giroud is out too. Aaron Ramsey and Nacho Monreal are doubts, with the latter having to come off on Saturday after scoring on his return. David Opsina play in goal after being promised that he will play all of the cup games by Arsene Wenger before the season began.
Chelsea had been struggling a little until Saturday, when they demolished Brighton 4-0 away from home. Eden Hazard and Willian were particularly impressive in that contest and both players will hope to get a start here too. The fight for the top four in the Premier League is on, but they will be motivated by just being one game away from a cup final.
New signing Ross Barkley was an unused substitute against Brighton at the weekend and could play a part here, most likely from the bench. Thibaut Courtois is a doubt with an ankle injury, while Cesc Fabregas, Danny Drinkwater and Gary Cahill may also miss out. Pedro and Alvaro Morata are available again after serving a one-match ban.

Nothing could split these 2 sides in the first leg and it is expected to be another evenly matched contest. A big part of how the match plays out will be the number of changes each manager decides to make. Taking history into account, Arsene Wenger is likely to be the boss that makes the most changes, which would give Chelsea the advantage.
As there have been so many draws between the two sides recently, it would be easy to tip another draw after 90 minutes here. However, in the Premier League contest at the Emirates Stadium a few weeks ago Chelsea were very unlucky not to win.
Alvaro Morata missed a hat full of chances and it took a last minute equaliser from Hector Bellerin to claim a point for the Gunners. Looking at the form of Eden Hazard, the tip is for Chelsea to edge a win, and if Morata gets a chance or two with his head he could do some damage. Don’t forget that Chelsea are also unbeaten in their last 12 matches.
It will probably be a little bit more open than the first leg, so Over 2.5 Goals looks like good value as well.
