Atletico must regain their focus after suffering their biggest defeat of the season 3-0 at Real Sociedad on Thursday. It was their second league defeat in a month and followed a week after their 1-0 defeat in Lisbon in the Europa League quarter final second leg. However, those reverses were away from home and expectations will be high on home ground where Atletico are undefeated in the league this season and have won the last seven on the bounce.
Betis are enjoying their best run in this season’s league campaign winning six consecutive matches and have not conceded a goal in the last five. They’ve enjoyed some great results on the road, upsetting Real Madrid 1-0 in the Bernabeu and winning 5-3 at Sevilla.
All good things must come to an end and Betis should find Atletico too strong on home ground. Despite their great defensive record in recent weeks, Betis have conceded 53 goals in the league this season, only Deportivo and Las Palmas have conceded more.
