UEFA Super Cup football tips – Barcelona vs Sevilla prediction

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique, is without left-back Jordi Alba, who has a hamstring injury and will be replaced by Jeremy Mathieu. Further forward, Barcelona are also without Brazilian superstar Neymar, who is out due to illness for at least 2 weeks. That could mean a start for Pedro in attack, who has been linked with a move away from the Camp Nou.

Sevilla have had quite a few players coming in and going out of the club over the summer months plus they have injuries to contend with. Manager Unai Emery has to do without three of his main central defenders, which could see some players having to play out of position. However, in attack, Sevilla should be at full strength, with Evgeni Konoplyanka likely to start and Ciro Immobile on the bench.

Possible Line-ups

Barcelona: 4-3-3 formation: Ter Stegen; Alves, Pique, Mascherano, Mathieu; Busquets, Rakitic, Iniesta; Pedro, Messi, Suarez

Sevilla: 4-2-3-1 formation: Beto; Mariano, Coke, Krychowiak, Tremoulinas; Iborra, Banega; Reyes, Vitolo, Konoplyanka; Gameiro

  • Barcelona have won 5, drawn 2 and lost 3 of their last 10 matches
  • Sevilla have won 6, drawn 2 and lost 2 of their last 10 matches
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Barcelona have scored an average of 2 goals and conceded an average of 1.5 goals per game
  • Over the course of their previous 10 matches, Sevilla have scored an average of 1.6 goals and conceded an average of 1.2 goals per game
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 9 of Barcelona’s previous 10 matches
  • There have been over 2.5 goals scored in 5 of Sevilla’s previous 10 matches
  • Barcelona are undefeated in their last 11 matches against Sevilla

Barcelona have a total of six trophies in their sights this season, with the UEFA Super Cup being the first of them. Luis Enrique has been active in the transfer market, with the purchases of Aleix Vidal from Sevilla, and Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid. However, due to the transfer embargo, neither will be available to play until January.

Sevilla have lost striker Carlos Bacca to AC Milan but have brought in some good attacking players, in Evgeni Konoplyanka and Ciro Immobile. Unfortunately for Unai Emery, he has a number of key players missing at the back and this will be a blow to Sevilla’s chances of defeating Barcelona.

Although Barcelona are without at least two key players for this match, they are still clear favourites to win. Even without Neymar, the Barcelona team are full of goals and given Sevilla’s problems at the back, could find the back of the net easily.

We say: Barcelona to win and both teams to score at 6/4 with Bet365
