Barnsley vs Aston Villa Prediction, Betting Tips and Preview
Championship high-flyers Barnsley face recently relegated Aston Villa when the sides meet at Oakwell on Tuesday night. Read the match predictions to find out why the Tykes are the betting tip to pile more misery on the sorry Villans
Barnsley vs Aston Villa Preview
Barnsley have made a promising start to the campaign after winning promotion back to the Championship via the Play-Offs and are sitting pretty in 7th place after 9 matches. Conversely, Aston Villa’s target of bouncing straight back to the top-flight is looking like a tall order and they occupy a lowly 18th position in the table.
Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom may want to tinker with his side after back to back defeats to Reading and Brighton respectively. Saidy Janko is definitely out with a torn thigh muscle while this game could come too soon for left-back Adie White who missed Saturday’s 2-0 defeat with a thigh strain. Ryan kent may come into the starting XI after appearing as a sub last time out and Sam Morsy will also be pushing for inclusion.
Roberto Di Matteo still looks unsure of his best side after yet another draw at the weekend. Aaron Tshibola came off the bench to head home the equaliser against Newcastle and impressed with his general play, so is likely to oust Albert Adomah from the midfield. Ross McCormack remains a doubt but Jack Grealish will be available after a one-match suspension imposed by Aston Villa.

Barnsley vs Aston Villa Prediction
Prior to suffering two defeats on the bounce, Barnsley were going great guns having chalked up a three game winning streak. Given that those losses were to Brighton and Reading who are expected to be in the promotion race, the Tykes will be hoping to do better against a faltering Aston Villa side.
With the exception of the 2-0 loss away to Brighton last time out, Barnsley have found the net in every other Championship game this season. Their best goalscoring form has been at Oakwell where they’ve amassed an impressive tally of 10 Championship goals in just 4 matches.
Aston Villa have been far from convincing so far this season and were arguably lucky to escape with a point against Newcastle last time out. Numerous defensive lapses went unpunished in the first half and Newcastle spurned a hatful of chances before Villa regrouped and, to their credit, battled back into the game.
It’s honours even in head to heads between these sides who last faced off in the 1997/98 Premier League campaign. Aston Villa romped to a 0-3 victory at Oakwell but the Colliers had their revenge with a narrow 0-1 win at Villa Park.
With six stalemates so far, the Villans are the draw specialists of the Championship right now but could easily have lost a few of those. Barnsley have shown a penchant for finding the net in front of a home crowd this season and on current form, should find this an easier assignment that their last two matches.
