Benfica goalkeeper Ederson Moraes was sent off in the 3-0 win over Arouca on Friday but remains eligible to play in the Champions League. Midfielder Eduardo Silva was sidelined for the Primeira Liga game and is hopeful of recovering in time to feature against Dortmund. Striker Konstantinos Mitroglou scored twice in the first half and was substituted before half time as a precautionary measure.

Borussia Dortmund missed out on the opportunity to go third in Bundesliga when losing at at Darmstadt at the weekend when Boyd and Colak scored either side of Raphael’s first half strike. While it was Dortmund’s first defeat in 10 competitive matches, Tuchel’s side has only won one of its last six league games on the road.

Benfica have not defeated a German side in four attempts in this competition having met Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich in recent years. The Portuguese champion managed to draw at home on both occasions and with Dortmund having done the double over Sporting Lisbon in the group stages another draw could be on the cards on Tuesday.
