Borussia Monchengladbach vs Werder Bremen Prediction and Preview – 05/02/16
Bundesliga preview – Borussia Monchengladbach vs Werder Bremen prediction.
Mahmoud Dahoud awaits the decision of Monchengladbach doctors to see if his injured hand has healed sufficiently by Friday. The 20-year-old has been training with the squad this week and claims to be feeling no pain. Granit Xhaka serves the last of his three-match ban and Andre Schubert will rely on Havard Nordvelt to protect the back four. Nico Elvedi is competing with Martin Hinteregger for a place at centre back in the absence of Tony Jantschke and Alvaro Dominguez.
Alejandro Galvez returned to training on Tuesday after a two week absence but it remains open whether the Werder central defender will play a part on Friday. Left back Santiago Garcia will serve a one-match ban and left winger Florian Grillitch is doubtful after injuring his foot in the 3-3 draw against Hertha last weekend. Midfielder Philipp Bargfrede remains sidelined along with forwards Aron Johannsson and Melvyn Lorenzen.

Prediction
Monchengladbach have the opportunity to bounce back from successive defeats since the Bundesliga returned from its winter break. The club’s chances of a Champions League place have suffered a setback in the new year after ending 2015 with a run of one defeat in 12 games. Schubert’s side had won six of its previous seven home games before Dortmund won 3-1 at Borussia-Park on 23 January and his team failed to make their dominance pay when losing 1-0 at Mainz last Friday.
16th placed Werder are four points clear of the automatic relegation places after picking up as many points in their last two games but still face a battle to avoid finishing in the bottom three. Viktor Skrypnyk’s men pulled off a great result to beat Schalke 3-1 a week past Sunday and have earned 14 of their 19 points away from home. Werder came from 3-1 down to earn a point at home to third-placed Hertha Berlin last Saturday thanks to two goals from veteran striker Claudio Pizarro.
Monchengladbach can exploit the weakness in Werder’s replacement left flank to avoid a potential upset.
