Brazil play host to rivals Argentina in a World Cup qualifying match this Thursday night. Read the match predictions to find out why a Brazil win is the betting tip in Belo Horizonte. In the last round of games Brazil moved top after a 0-2 win away to Venezuela while Argentina dropped to sixth after losing 0-1 at home to Paraguay.

Brazil vs Argentina Preview

Brazil welcome back Neymar after he missed the previous match against Venezuela and he’ll be key to their chances (see video above). Philippe Coutinho could be preferred to fellow Premier League stars Willian and Roberto Firmino out wide. Giuliano has been in fine form, and he could oust Paulinho in the engine room.

Argentina are expected to adopt a slightly more defensive system compared to recent games. Enzo Pérez is set to start in front of Pablo Zabaleta on the right. Guido Pizarro could come into midfield if Lucas Biglia fails to prove his fitness after coming back from an injury. Lionel messi and Gonzalo Higuain are set to start up-front.

Argentina 4-4-2 formation: Romero; Mas, Mori, otamendi, Zabaleta; Maria, Mascherano, Biglia, Perez; Messi, Higuain

Brazil vs Argentina Prediction

Brazil are in the driving seat with just 8 games to play in the CONMEBOL qualifying series. They sit 1 point ahead of Uruguay after the victory over Venezuela, which came on the back of beating Colombia 2-1 and Bolivia 5-0. The mood is good but Selecao will need to do a professional job here.

Argentina are in real danger of missing the cut and have failed to win in their last 3 outings. The home defeat to Paraguay was preceded by a pair of 2-2 draws away to Venezuela and Peru. They really need to get something out of this game but Brazil are in good heart and will be tough to overcome.

There will be no love lost between these sides but it’s a real treat for the neutral as Barcelona stars Neymar and Messi go head to head. The hosts have really tightened things up at the back but may struggle to keep a clean sheet in this one. However, given the form of these teams, Brazil are taken to edge the game and it would be no surprise if Neymar had a hand in the winning goal.
