Brighton vs Leicester Preview

Brighton come into this game on the back of two losses away to Manchester United and Everton. Prior to those defeats, Chris Hughton’s side were unbeaten in seven which lifted them up the table and away from the relegation zone. The Seagulls currently have 34 points and sit 12th in the league. They’re six points above the bottom three and maximum points on Saturday should provide enough of a gap for them to remain as a Premier League club next season.

Brighton have one of the worst away records in the league having picked up just 10 points from a possible 45 on their travels. However, at home, they have been excellent and have lost just twice in their last 17 matches at Falmer Stadium. They’ve won their last four consecutive home games which included a 2-1 win over Arsenal and a 4-1 thrashing of the improved Swansea. It has ultimately been their home form which has kept them out of the bottom three and Hughton will be looking to continue this form into Saturday’s game to achieve his goal of keeping his side in England elite league.

Leicester sit four places higher than Brighton in 8th place. They’re eight points adrift of Arsenal and look unlikely to secure automatic qualification to next seasons Europa League with just eight games remaining. However, it is still a possibility and Foxes manager Claude Puel will want to continue to pick up as many points as possible until it’s certain either way.

After a positive start to 2018 which saw the Foxes go six games unbeaten, they have now won just one league match since the 20th January and were eliminated from the FA Cup in the quarter-finals by Chelsea in their most recent match, losing 2-1 in extra time.

While Brighton have picked up 24 points at home this season, Leicester have picked up just 17 on their travels. They haven’t had trouble finding the net in those games and have picked up the same number of away goals as Manchester United and only one less than Chelsea. However, they’ve conceded an average of 1.7 goals per game away from the King Power Stadium which as ultimately caused them to drop points.

Brighton vs Leicester Predictions

This isn’t an easy game to call and it could well end in a draw. However, taking into account Brighton’s impressive home record and Leicesters poor record on the road, we’re swaying towards a home win. Leicester’s key man Jamie Vardy along with Harry Maguire, both featured for England in their International Friendlies against the Netherlands and Italy this week and could have tired legs. Vardy was given 70minutes by Southgate on Tuesday evening and it may have an effect on his performace if selected on Saturday.

Brighton have won their last four home games with both teams scoring in all of those matches. We’re backing both teams to score again on Saturday and although it could go either way, our tip is for the home side to grab one more.
