Cardiff vs Bristol City Prediction, Betting Tips and Preview
Cardiff entertain Bristol City in the Championship this Friday. Read the match predictions to find out why our betting tip is to back the draw at Cardiff City Stadium.
Cardiff vs Bristol City Preview
Cardiff are enduring a bad run at the moment and signed off for the international break with a 2-0 defeat away to Burton Albion. They sit 23rd in the table on 8 points, 12 behind 5th placed Bristol City who enjoyed a 2-1 comeback victory over Nottingham Forest last time out.
The Bluebirds have a new manager, so it’s a bit of guesswork as to how Neil Warnock will set up here. He’ll be looking to keep things simple and get back to basics, so a change to 4-42 is anticipated. Rickie Lambert will be partnered by either Frédéric Gounongbe or Kenneth Zohore in attack. Peter Whittingham and Craig Noone are likely starters in central midfield with Anthony Pilkington set for a return on the wing.
Bristol City arrive in good heart and head coach Lee Johnson is unlikely to dramatically alter his starting lineup. That would mean Tammy Abraham continuing up-front as a lone striker, supported by Callum O’Dowda, Bobby Reid and Jamie Paterson. Gary O’Neil could come in for Marlon Pack alongside Josh Brownhill in the double pivot and it should be the same back four that started against Forest.

Cardiff vs Bristol City Prediction
Cardiff’s 1-2 success away to Rotherham was their first win in 6 outings but the relief was short lived as they went down 0-2 at home to Derby County next time out. The following 2-0 loss away to Burton was the final nail in the coffin for Paul Trollope, who simply couldn’t halt the slide.
Bristol City are going great guns at the moment and are seeking to extend their unbeaten run to 6 matches. After beating Fulham away in both the EFL Cup and Championship, they edged Leeds 1-0 and produced a superb fightback against Nottingham Forest.
The visitors arrive in solid form and will make it 5 wins on the bounce if they succeed. However, as is so often the case, having a new manager can cause a spike in results and Warnock is renowned for building tenacious sides.
The worry for the hosts is that porous defence. If they go toe to toe with Bristol, they will need to take their chances, as I can’t see them keeping a clean sheet. There should be a few goals in this one and it could be honours even at the final whistle.
