Celtic may have been suffering from a Champions League hangover after their heroics against Manchester City but managed to get the job done and win 0-1 away to Dundee to preserve their 4 point lead at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Motherwell lost for the first time in 5 matches when going down 1-3 at home to Hearts and have dropped to 6th in the standings.
Brendan Rodgers will be hoping to have no injury concerns after the international break and is likely to field a strong side. Kolo Toure will be hoping to force his way back in but it could be Sviatchenko and Šimunović at the back, with the Ivorian saved for the visit of Borussia Monchengladbach. Leigh Griffiths will once again be on the subs bench, behind the in-form Moussa Dembélé in the pecking order.
Motherwell boss Mark McGhee had witnessed a slight upturn in results prior to the defeat to Hearts and the next two home games could be tough to endure. The personnel should remain largely unchanged but against Celtic, what is described as a 4-3-3 is likely to become more of a 4-5-1. That could see Scott McDonald drop to the bench for James McFadden and Ryan Bowman switched to the right-flank.

Celtic vs Motherwell Prediction
Celtic stuffed Kilmarnock 6-1 in their last home game in the Scottish Premiership and carried that goalscoring form into the next match where they went toe to toe with Man City in a pulsating 3-3 draw. It wasn’t all guns blazing away to Dundee but Hoops will be looking to put on a show back in front of their own fans.
Barring a 0-0 against Dundee a few games back, Motherwell have been finding the net. They out-gunned Hamilton Academicals 4-2 and were held to a 1-1 draw away to Partick Thistle, before grabbing a consolation goal in the defeat to Hearts.
The Steelmen have produced just one shutout in the league this season and can expect to have their defensive capabilities put to the test in this one. If they can prevent Celtic from getting an early goal, then the home supporters may grow restless and increase the pressure. Otherwise, the floodgates could be open.
Celtic enjoyed a runaway 5-0 success over Motherwell in the League Cup back in August and while I’m not tipping such a heavy defeat for the visitors, they will probably suffer a similar fate. Even though Motherwell have been scoring, I fancy them to struggle here and the hosts should keep them at arm’s length.
