CSKA Moscow vs Tottenham Prediction, Betting Tips and Preview
CSKA Moscow play host to Tottenham Hotspur in a live televised match from the Champions League on Tuesday. Read the match predictions to find out why Spurs are the betting tip to edge a victory in Russia on the first ever meeting between these sides.
CSKA Moscow vs Tottenham Preview
CSKA Moscow battled back to draw 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen on match day 1 while Tottenham were left disappointed following a 1-2 loss against Monaco at White Hart Lane.
Leonid Slutskiy has just one injury concern in long-term absentee Aleksandrs Cauna. The CSKA Moscow boss is, therefore, not expected to spring any surprises. The towering Lacina Traore should lead the line and is set to be flanked by Zoran Tosic and Aleksandr Golovin. Both goalscorers from the first Group E match, Alan Dzagoev and Roman Eremenko should feature in what is likely to be a familiar starting XI for the hosts.
New Spurs recruit Moussa Sissoko will miss out with a head injury, joining Harry Kane on the sidelines. Mauricio Pochettino could restore Danny Rose and Eric Dier to the starting lineup following respective injuries after both players travelled to Russia. Erik Lamela was rested at the weekend and is expected to return while Son Heung-Min has been among the goals and is expected to retain his place. Vincent Janssen should lead the line again in Kane’s absence and Vincent Wanyama could be preferred to Moussa Dembele in the centre of the park.

CSKA Moscow vs Tottenham Prediction
CSKA Moscow showed great character to come back from 2 down and secure a point away to Bayer Leverkusen. However, their form has been indifferent since that fight back with a win, loss and draw in the last three outings. After a rudimentary 1-2 win at Krylya Sovetov Samara they were upstaged 2-1 away to FC Yenisey Krasnoyarsk before being held 1-1 at home to FC Krasnodar.
This will be just the third match at Arena CSKA this season and the home fans will be hoping for a better showing than they witnessed at the weekend. Leonid Slutskiy has tended to employ conservative tactics so far which has resulted in some tight matches. Such an approach may work in the Russian Premier League but Spurs are likely to represent a much tougher challenge.
Since Tottenham’s 1-2 loss to Monaco, they have chalked up three straight wins. Spurs edged Sunderland 1-0 in the Premier League and thrashed Gillingham 5-0 in the English Football League Cup. Last time out, the Lilywhites were 2 goals to the good before letting in a late consolation away to Middlesbrough.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side hasn’t struggled for goals as many predicted when Harry Kane got injured. Son Heung-Min has been a star performer for Spurs and has linked up well with Kane’s replacement, Vincent Janssen. They’ve also looked pretty solid at the back and head to Moscow in good form, so can be expected to make amends for losing on match day 1.
