Dundee are in a bad run of form at the moment and find themselves 9th in the table with just 6 points to their name. Meanwhile, Celtic are the league’s trail-blazers and are sitting pretty at the top of the table with 16 points.
Michael Duffy will be ineligible to face his parent club, so Paul Hartley may deploy Faissal El Bakhtaoui as a lone striker here. If he sticks with two up top it could be Yordi Teijsse or Rory Loy that come in but given the strength of opposition, it’s more likely that Danny Williams will come in to pack the midfield. The visit of Celtic is never going to be easy for Dundee but they are in dismal form at the moment. Saturday’s 3-1 drubbing at Kilmarnock came on the back of a 1-3 defeat at home to Aberdeen, where they were reduced to 10 men for the second game running.
Keeping a full quota on the pitch is a must for the Dark Blues, if they are to get anything out of this game. You’d imagine that they’ll set up to frustrate the visitors and the question is whether or not they can hold out. Cross referencing their defensive record with Celtic’s recent goal-scoring form suggests otherwise.
The Hoops are buoyant right now after putting in a great performance to draw 3-3 away at Manchester City in the Champions League. They are yet to lose in the Scottish Premiership and are seeking to stretch their current unbeaten run to 5 in all competitions.
Celtic have been banging in goals for fun, as demonstrated to devastating effect when they thrashed Kilmarnock 6-1 last weekend. Moussa Dembele has been the main source of those goals and bagged his second brace in as many games on Wednesday night.
Celtic are undefeated in 30 of their previous 33 away games in the Scottish Premiership and are undefeated in 26 games against Dundee in all competitions. Those stats make grim reading for the hosts and it’s hard to look past a convincing away win here.
