France have no fresh injury concerns but may make one or two changes to the side that won cosily against Luxembourg. Layvin Kurzawa will be hoping to oust Benjamin Mendy at left-back and Florian Thauvin could come in for Ousmane Dembele on the right wing. France are in a commanding position in World Cup Qualifying Group A. Their campaign began with a comfortable win away to Bulgaria before a speculative Paul Pogba strike proved to be the difference away to Netherlands. Les Bleus beat Sweden 2-1 but then drew 0-0 in a friendly with Ivory Coast before Saturday’s easy win.
Spain are also in good shape and would have a 100% record in qualification, if not for conceding a late equaliser away to Italy. They’ve since won easily against Albania, FYR Macedonia and Israel, though needed to produce a late comeback to draw 2-2 away to England in a friendly match.
A glance at each team’s stats above shows that they have each been defending reasonably well, despite both conceding last time out. I’m not expecting this to be a pulsating encounter but more of a tactical duel. The price on a draw looks worth taking for two evenly matched teams.
