Free horse racing tip for the Chester Cup at the Roodee on Wednesday 10 May.  A maximum field of 17 have been declared for Wednesday’s 188Bet sponsored race with the Roger Charlton-trained Blakeney Point the last horse to make the cut for the two mile two and a half furlong stamina test.

Connections of Isharah and William Of Orange, the two reserves, will have to wait until tomorrow morning to find out if they will join the field in the event of any late withdrawals.

Unlike Blakeney Point (drawn 1), ante-post market leader Sea Of Heaven has been handed one of the short straws with his allocation of stall 14, a difficult but not impossible starting point on the tight Roodee circuit. With Maleficent Queen, Winning Story and Oriental Fox all defecting at the final declaration stage the Iain Jardine-trained Nakeeta (runner-up 12 months ago) will carry top weight of 9st 10lb in what looks a sub-standard renewal of the historic handicap.

With leading fancies Golden Spear and Magic Circle also drawn high in stalls 12 and 18 respectively the horse who merits this week’s free racing tip is Who Dares Wins from the Alan King stable who will come out of number 7 berth in the hands of Tom Marquand. The five-year-old has plenty of decent form under both codes, most recently with a cracking third place finish in the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival.

Despite finishing last of five on his last appearance on the Flat in September 2016 the son of Jeremy was beaten only three lengths on the soft ground and is much better judged on his victory at Chester last July when storming home by five lengths. This will be Who Dares Wins first attempt at the marathon trip but his runs over hurdles suggest that he could easily improve for the step up in trip, making his current mark of 92 more than reasonable.

The Mark Johnston pair of Watersmeet and Yorkidding could go well at decent prices from their low draws but Who Dares Wins looks to have solid credentials to run a massive race and rates the value bet.
