Free horse racing tip for the Scottish Grand National at Ayr on Saturday 22 April. The Coral Scottish Grand National looks every bit as competitive as it’s Aintree counterpart with a maximum field of 30 almost guaranteed for Ayr’s four mile stamina test.
With bookmakers going 9-1 the field in the ante-post market there are a host of potential winners, headed by a plethora of southern raiders including Nicky Henderson’s Premier Bond and the fancied Paul Nicholls pair of Vicente ( victorious 12 months ago ) and Arpege D’Alene. But, as was the case with the victory of One For Arthur at Aintree, the Scottish version can stay in the north with the Mark Walford-trained Trustan Times who is available at 20-1 with most firms.
Free racing tip for the Scottish Grand National
A high-class hurdler with previous handler Tim Easterby, the son of Heron Island achieved a mark of 150 when defying top weight to win a competitive valuable handicap at Haydock in 2012 before running well in graded company. A previous career over fences was put on hold following some excellent form over the smaller obstacles but the gelding had another go at chasing when thrown in at the deep end for the 2014 Scottish Grand National. A bad mistake at the first put the mount of Wilson Renwick on the back foot for most of the race and after making rapid headway in the last mile looked the potential winner jumping the second-last.
That effort took it’s toll on Trustan Times who could only stay on at one pace to finish a close third behind Al Co and Godsmejudge (see video above). Running off a mark of 140 on that occasion the horse is now 8lb lower and on only his second start for Walford ran out an easy winner over hurdles on his most recent start earlier this month. Undoubtedly well handicapped, fresh and with recent winning form Trustan Times ticks most of the boxes and looks sure to run a big race this weekend.
Recommended Beting Tip – 1 point each-way Trustan Times 20-1 generally.
