Free Horse Racing Tip – Scottish Sprint Cup
No trainer is more adept at revitalizing sprinters than Dandy Nicholls and the handler looks to have worked his magic once again with 2012 Gimcrack Stakes winner Blaine who can take Saturday’s valuable William Hill Scottish Sprint Cup under a 6lb penalty for a hugely impressive victory at Epsom on Derby day.
The son of Avonbridge began his three-year-old career racing off a mark of 107 but failed to mix it in Group company and had to wait until the following year before getting back to winning ways – recording victories at Hamilton and York off 96 and 100 respectively.
Since then the gelding has struggled for previous trainer Kevin Ryan - with the exception of a fine third place (off 104) in the 2014 Ayr Gold when sent off the 7/1 favourite and, joining Nicholls for his stable debut at Thirsk back in May, benefited from that run and a subsequent promising effort at York later that month to hit peak form at the Surrey track at the weekend.
Scooting home under Kieren Fallon, Blaine is going to be done no favours by the handicapper so - despite dropping back a furlong - the temptation to run on Saturday with a 6lb penalty is likely to prove too hard to resist for connections, making the 7/1 generally available a decent bet.
